Petition Letter
To whom ever it may regard,
I write to you with a pit in my stomach as I feel it may be too late but I need to pick up my PYSCH 100 course again but I am hopeful things will look up in going through this appeal process. I unfortunately made the mistake of dropping this course last Saturday as I was facing a great deal of anxiety and numerous symptoms of depression leading up to this point. Being a first year student living off campus has been tough in the sense that I felt out of place among my peers. The associated isolation I put myself through and the apprehensiveness in fully committing to this course made the choice to drop easy.
At the time I was simply overwhelmed, with the feeling that there was no one I could genuinely express my feeling towards, at least on campus. I decided to email my mom and doctor explaining the situation in detail as I did not tell anyone of my mental state prior to my attempt of managing my anxiety in dropping the course. I wanted to feel in control and stray away from a path I knew would end in poor performance. Saying this I feel good enough that I want to pick this course up again speaking with my doctor and other on-campus services today. I will include a brief letter from my mom, and if time permits my Doctor who I have not seen in 4-5 months prior to coming to Queens.
I hope you have a wonderful day and this email is not a downer. I will do everything in my power to work effectively in catching up and in making the rest of my time here more pleasant.
Kind regards,
Diego Alvarado Isztin
