Dear Associate Dean (Studies),
I am writing to appeal my exam time for ENGL 486 with Instructor Laura Ludtke. The exam is currently scheduled for December 19th, 2015 from 2-5pm.
The reason that I am appealing this exam time is because I have non-reschedulable family travel plans for 6:30am on the morning of December 20th. My family booked these plans over a year ago and did not take into account my potential exam schedule. We are flying out of the country leaving from Winnipeg on December 20th, and it will be very difficult to make it to Manitoba to catch this flight with my current exam schedule. The only flight I would be able to take in order to potentially be on time leaves Kingston at 5:25pm on December 19th, and I would have to leave the exam quite early in order to catch this flight. This will affect my academics in a negative way by forcing me to rush through my exam as well as adding to the stress and anxiety surrounding the exam. As well, if this 5:25pm flight is delayed or cancelled for any reason I will not be able to make it to Winnipeg at all and will miss my travel plans completely.
Should my appeal be granted, I will take all efforts to consult my family before booking travel plans in the future.
Thank you for your time and consideration of my appeal.
Sincerely,
Emma Lockhart
