Petition Letter
To whom it may concern,
I am contacting you today in regards to an appeal to drop a math 121 course I had taken during the summer of 2015.
At the beginning of the summer my grandmother had been diagnosed with stage four-pancreatic cancer. My family and I spent our entire free time going back and fourth from the hospital and my grandparent's house to help take care of my grandmother and grandfather. I had no time to focus on the math course I was taking. Due to the fact that I was not able to study for the course I began to have major anxiety and stress about the course along with the family stress that was occurring. After two moths of battling cancer my grandmother passed away. By the end of the course I was not able to focus on any math because of grieving the death of my grandmother and helping my family deal with her death as well. With everything that happened with my family this passed summer I truly believe it affected my overall outcome in the course.
The reason I had not applied before the 21-day rule is due to the fact that I had just been informed about the possibility of appealing to drop a course about a week ago. As proof of this family event I have many emails from throughout the summer reaching out to the professor about my family issues asking for any extensions and exceptions. If more information is needed I can also get a letter written by my parents.
