Appeal to have Winter 2014 course results dropped from my academic record
I am submitting this appeal due to an ongoing medical condition affecting my performance at university. This letter addresses the circumstances that led me to submit this appeal. The courses I am requesting be dropped from my record are COMM200, ENSC301, ENSC 320, ENSC390, and GPHY102.
Two years ago, I had a term which was affected by a medical issue, which was dealt with under an appeal. Since then, I had a relatively successful term while undergoing treatment. I suspended treatment after the year was complete in keeping with the advice of a doctor.
This past October, the symptoms returned while at school, and the Fall 2013 term was also dealt with under an appeal. As indicated in the letter I submitted for that term in January, I had returned to treatment for the Winter 2014 term, and I have remained in treatment since that time. However, despite an effort to continue courses through the winter term, my conditioned worsened to the point that I was not able to successfully complete these courses.
I will continue to work with medical professionals now and in the future, and likely will for the remainder of my time in university. I am currently spending the summer away from Kingston, continuing medical treatment while making preparations to return to classes at some point. I am uncertain at this time when it would be best for me to continue my university studies and that decision will be made in conjunction with medical professionals. I will review regulations around enrollment, suspending my program, etc. and take whatever action is necessary.
I am asking that to preserve my record, and allow me the best chance to successfully continue to the completion of my education at Queen¿¿s or elsewhere, that I be able to drop the courses last term that I was not able to successfully complete due to my medical condition. This would allow me to pick up my studies again when I am able.
I will include supporting letters from medical and counseling professionals that have been involved in my treatment. If you require any additional information with regards to this appeal, please let me know.
