To whom it may concern,
I suffered a concussion participating in a varsity wrestling practice a while back. I was taken to the hospital and kept overnight due to the concerns of my spine and how severe my symptoms were. Since then I have been dealing with headaches every day that are usually a level 8. I struggle still to be in noisy areas and I am still sensitive to light. On top of this, I have short-term memory issues, dizziness and confusion. These symptoms have made my courses extremely hard for me, especially Anatomy 315, due to the amount of memorization necessary in passing the course successfully. I visit my doctor regularly for checkups, but unfortunately it has become a waiting game. Since the concussion I have also been seeing a therapist at LaSalle to help keep me in check and to handle my stress. Unfortunately there is only so much they can do for me. My marks have suffered greatly across the board, to the point that I am unsure of whether or not I can pass my Anatomy class. Being unable to stand a lot of noise makes it difficult to attend lectures, as well as mandatory bell-ringers.
I want to be successful in my studies, and dropping Anatomy 315 for this year would help give my mind a break from the stress of memorization, and give me more time to heal. I plan on taking it again once my symptoms have cleared up.
Thank you for considering my request,
Jordan Sousa-Dias
