Petition Letter
I am appealing to have a course dropped after the drop date.
After the reading week, one of my housemates fell very ill. Throwing up all throughout the night and day, leaving him bed bound for a couple of days and having to miss an exam. Two days later, Tuesday February 23rd, another one of my housemates fell ill with similar symptoms to what the first housemate was experiencing. The next day, Wednesday February 24th I begin getting really sick, spending all day and night throwing up and severe diarrhea. This left me sleeping for a couples of days and forcing me to miss an exam. By the time I came around to the point where I was able to eat a bit and not feeling dizzy when I sat up, it was Saturday. I checked my email and noticed an email informing me that I had missed the date to drop a course without academic penalty. I was planning to drop this course because I just recently switched into a new program, Econ, and realized for what I want to accomplish, I am going to have to do five years here at Queens. I was taking PSYC 100 out of interest, but after the winter exam and the work load increasing, I came to terms that I am unable to wrap my head around the science of Psychology. I was also worried about credits and thought dropping it was not an option, until a week ago when I finally finalized a list as to what I want done by the time I graduate from Queens. Having done all of this, I feel deeply ashamed to have missed the cut off date to drop a course and to have to be writing an appeal. I Haven't been having the best of luck with these things, so I hope you consider my request, thank you.
It is currently February 29th, and I am about to get an exam done to decide whether or not I have bleeding in my stomach. This concern was raised yesterday, February 28th, after a visit to the Hotel Dieu Hospital, so I will be able to provide documentation after this date if needed.
