Petition Letter
Dear the Associate Dean of Faculty of Arts and Science
I am appealing Aegrotat standing in HIST 400 and GRMN 426.
I have been suffering from my mental issues since last year. I was treated with medication and counselling services; however, it was slower than I expected. Last October, I was recommended to withdraw from the program and return next year. This seemed the right decision at the moment but this decision had impact on my daily pattern which I was working on since this summer. I cannot motivate myself to get some work done and I still have trouble to concentrate. My personal relations in Kingston mostly relate to the school and this withdrawal from the program disconnects most of my relations.
Furthermore, I am an international student and staying in Canada with student visa. Once I withdrew from the program, I had to deal with my legal status in Canada. Before I signed the withdrawal form, I talked to people in the international centre. I heard that they could not be sure because the law has changed last year and no one knows how it will be applied or what will happen. They recommended me to go home and reapply when my program starts this fall. Therefore, I am leaving Canada on 8th March and I will not have an access to most of resources to finish my course materials.
All these situations happened together or one after another. I could not handle them and this fact that I did not have a solution made me extremely stressful. In the end I avoided to think about everything related to it. Although I was on medication and talking to the counselor, I still felt depressed and helpless. Since January, I am trying to deal with my problems.
Once I go home, I will focus on refreshing my health and working intensively on my mental issues with help of my family. I will continue to take medications and meet my counselor regularly. Then, I can return to my final year of the con-ed program this September.
