Petition Letter
Dear Associate Dean,
I am writing this letter to ask for permission to study in Japan for my third year (Autumn, Winter, and Summer terms).
In my first year at Queen's, I learned see the world from different perspectives. I found that my home country is more unique than I ever thought, while at the same time, I realized I know nothing about my country. Since I left Japan when I was in grade eleven, I have been waiting for the opportunity to re-study about my own home country.
Since last winter, I have discussed about my future plans with Dr. Hand to graduate on time and I applied to the International Christian University in Tokyo. On February 29th 2016, I was admitted to their One-Year-Regular-Student program.
The International Christian University is Japan¿¿s leading Liberal Arts College and a study experience there will give me a new lens through which to see society and build a strong foundation, in order to analyze my country critically. The knowledge and skills I will obtain at the university will also help me to write my thesis when I return to Queen's.
I will be happy to answer any questions you might have. Thank you for taking time to review my request.
Sincerely,
Sayaka Hoshino
