Academic Plan
Dear Dr. Horton,
Regarding my academic plan, I have stated that I wish to pursue a degree in History. If you were to allow me to return to Queen¿¿s University in this upcoming fall semester, I would be enrolling into History 124 and History 201, along with other History lecture courses which I am allowed to take. As a part of the History department¿¿s requirements, I would not be allowed to take the seminar courses which are required, due to the fact that I would need to be a History major in order to do so. For this reason, I will be doing a fifth year, in order to complete the courses which I am not allowed to take this upcoming school year.
I understand that my GPA has not been adequate within the past two years, but I have managed to identify where my academic weaknesses are, and how I would be able to conquer them in the upcoming school year. Within the past two years, besides having mononucleosis and a concussion, I have struggled to handle the pressures of time management. As a varsity athlete, I felt the need to have an excessive amount of time for my social life, as I have always done so without truly seeing the consequences in my academic performance. Furthermore, once I began to struggle in my first year, I was embarrassed to seek help for time management in my first year, which in hindsight was not a smart idea. However, throughout my second year, I have continuously had meetings with Linda Williams and Andy Goodspeed, who is the Coordinator of Athlete Services at Queen¿¿s in terms of how to study and setting up my own schedule. As a result of this, my GPA has shown a great improvement, and I wish to continue having meetings with them in the future with regards to helping me improve my academic performance, as I truly believe that I have a bright future at Queen¿¿s University.
Sincerely,
Milan Mitrovic
