Academic Plan
Course of Study:
It is my desire to enroll in Honors Political Science. It is my desire that the professionals with whom I am working can help me resolve my mental health issues and consequently allow me to flourish at Queen's rather than suffer. The treatment for insomnia and mental health is often done by trial and error using different medications. I am seeking treatment in the USA where the diagnostic tools are more advanced, which can streamline my treatment plan.
If my condition has not improved, I will seek to take a lighter course load that will help me be more successful academically, while still working with medical doctors and psychologists.
It isn't a matter of working hard, rather resolving underlying issues that will allow me to work more effectively. I did work very hard last academic year.
Full Time versus Part Time Status:
I would like to take the minimum course load to allow me to keep my full time status at this point in time. Again, if my treatments are effective, I will be in a better position to know if I will be able to manage a full course load.
Strategies for Success:
I plan on pursuing the major that is of most interest to me. By being attracted to learn more about politics as a natural interest, my success rate will improve. When I find myself struggling in any course, I will seek help rather than not deal with the issue at hand.
The keystone to my academic success is the success of the treatment for mental health. I am very hopeful that my situation will improve with all the intervention from specialists, combined with my learning assessment, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I regret not reaching out for more targeted help last year as I thought I could manage.
