Petition Letter
I am appealing to drop Arth 354 (winter 2016) and Psyc 100 (Spring/Summer 2016) due to performance based on extenuating circumstances beyond my control. My extenuating circumstance is due an assessment of mild to moderate sleep apnea that directly impacted my performance due to a lack in motivation and energy levels, and impairment of cognitive abilities.
Studying has always been extraneous because I would fall asleep during study sessions and I would feel tired throughout the day and in classes. Part of the problem was cause by ADD, however I did not know that I had sleep apnea until I had an assessment conducted April 2016. Information on sleep apnea causing interrupt sleep provided me explanations on my lack of motivation and energy, and my inability to stay awake while reading dense information and material, and to organize thoughts.
I have attached and off-campus Physician's note to support the appeal.
