Dear Ms. Sue Blake,
I am appealing for a late course add of CISC 220 (section 2). I have obtained consent from the CS department to waive the CISC 124 prerequisite, and support from the instructor for this appeal.
Despite making reasonable efforts to enroll during add/drop, I was not able to do so before the period ended. As a new upper-year transfer student, I have an odd combination of transferred credits, notably missing the core first-year course CISC 124, Introduction to Computing Science II. From Sept 15 through 23, I made attempts via email, telephone, and in-person visits to meet with the CS department for permission to enroll in CISC 220 without CISC 124, none of which were answered. Details of each attempt is included in the supporting documents of this appeal.
I have met with the instructor to discuss the material covered so far, much of which has been introductory and related to software setup. Should my appeal be granted, I will catch up on missed lecture slides through the course website. Coincidentally, I already have the required software installed.
This fall, I will consult further with academic advisors and the CS department to 1) resolve my missing CISC 124 credit, 2) plan my academic career, and 3) enroll in winter courses before this term ends. These steps should avoid a similar situation during winter enrollment.
