Petition Letter
To: Associate Dean studies,
I am writing a one-term appeal letter in order to drop HLTH 332: Foundation for understanding disability: A health perspective.
I have been suffering from severe eye infections throughout the term resulting in the closure of one of my eyes, causing extreme discomfort and substantial periodic visual impairment (see attached medical note). Consequently I have not been able to devote my full time and attention to all five of my courses. I have done my best to keep up with my course load and have had the support of professors in rescheduling certain exams. I have seen several doctors and have received medication, however the eye swelling is very unpredictable and can occur at any time. As the term progressed it became evident that I could not perform at my fullest ability with the full course load. I seriously considered dropping the Heath 332 prior to the deadline, but was determined to put in my best effort. At that time, I did not fully realize the impact of my medical problem on my academic performance. By lessening my course load by one course, I can maintain my academic standard and allocate my fullest attention towards my other four courses.
In Summary, based on the ongoing nature of this medical issue, I am now asking to drop the course so I can best manage the remaining four courses to the best of my ability and have a successful term.
Thank you for your consideration,
Gabrielle Lieberman
