Petition Letter
Dear Dr. Bénard.
Thank you for considering my appeal. I submitted a request to return to studies in the fall of 2016 with the intention of enrolling in classes for the winter term. After completing the Return to Studies form I was unable to properly add/drop classes in SOLUS. The registrar was not clear on why I was experiencing these errors and thought it was likely a bug related to the recent reactivation of my student status. The staff at the Arts & Science office was also not able to enrol me in a class when logged in under my user ID. After discussing by phone with the registrars office they were able to manually enrolled me, however I was still unable to add/drop classes through my own account. I attempted to do so several times from my own computer and it appears that at some point my account was again able to add/drop and I inadvertently enrolled in a fall term class without properly dropping it. I also paid the associated tuition fees mistakenly believing that they were the fees assessed for the winter term class that I was enrolled in. When I realized the mistake I attempted to drop the class but it was past the deadline. I contacted Professor Art Stewart, the instructor for ECON 212, who has confirmed in writing to your office that I have not attended any classes or tutorials, submitted any course work or written any tests. I accept full responsibility for my error and will have to pay all the associated tuition fees for the class. However, I do not feel that the zero grade I'm likely to receive would be an accurate reflection of me on my transcript. I would request that your office allow me to back date my drop of ECON 212.
Thank you for your time and my apologies for the inconvenience this has caused.
