Petition Letter
Dear members of the Appeal Committee,
I attended Queens University from Sept 2012 to Summer 2015. During the last year I struggled with depression related to my father's mental health and death, and did not do very well in my classes. I decided to take time away from University, and until this past month, was uncertain about whether or not to continue.
I have decided to apply to Universities in the United States as a transfer student, and wish to appeal some of my grades.
I understand that this request is outside of the 21 day time frame you require, but I hope you will understand that given my mental state at the time, and my indecision about continuing, I was not able to get that done.
At this point in time, I am hoping that you will allow me to move forward with an appeal based on the extenuating circumstances of my father;s death. I have attached copies of the death certificate, as well as a note from the psychiatrist who diagnosed my depression and prescribed medication for me, and the psychotherapist who I saw for several months after I dropped out of Queens.
As applications for the Fall Semester are due relatively soon, I would appreciate it if you could make a decision as soon as possible.
