Petition Letter
Associate Dean (Studies),
I am appealing to drop HIST 246 (Winter, 2017) past the standard drop deadline date. I am diagnosed with an episodic medical condition that has severely inhibited my ability to perform in the course. Last semester, I completed a full course load and thus felt that I would be able to do the same for this semester. Unfortunately, an exacerbation of symptoms has left me unable to do so. During the semester, my symptoms worsened following the mid-term. I was unable to complete the major research essay and fell sufficiently behind in the class that I feel as though I cannot take the final exam either.
Moving forward, I will continue to work with both my physician and my accessibility services advisor in order to monitor my course load. I also plan to work closely with my advisor if circumstances arise where my condition worsens. Under the care of my specialist physician, I am optimistic that my condition will be stabilized prior to the start of the next academic year.
Thank you for considering my appeal,
Nicholas Storr
