Academic Plan
Despite the ongoing physical and emotional challenges I will be facing on a daily basis, I am confident in my ability to not only return to my studies but excel academically when I choose to do so. If my request for appeal is granted, my plan for the future is as follows; earn the science credits I currently lack at Bette Stephenson Centre and pursue a double major in Nursing and Creative Writing at York University. My quality of life has vastly improved since I made the decision to withdraw from Queens to seek treatment. With proper medication and psychiatric support that is not only accessible but tailored to my needs, I've developed better time management skills that are quintessential for my pursuit of higher education and a successful career afterwards. I am currently seeing a psychiatrist every Tuesday and a counselor every Thursday in order to analyze trends in my thinking and mitigate symptoms such as emotional instability, impulsivity and anxiety. Taking the time to understand my illness and holding myself accountable for my own treatment has not only increased my stress-threshold but has also given me an optimistic approach towards academia and its' countless opportunities for networking, intellectual exploration and personal growth.
