Petition Letter
I am appealing for a late admission into the May - July Summer term for ECON 111, Introductory Microeconomics.
The reason for my delay in registering is that my plan for second year heavily depended on whether I would successfully transfer into the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science. I applied in February 2017, and received a response only four days ago. My application was rejected, and now my plan is to major in economics, however, to do so I need to take both ECON 112, which I have already taken, and ECON 111. This is because the economics courses I plan to take in second year (ECON 212, 222, 250, and potentially others) all have them as prerequisites. Since I only found out the result of my application on the 15th of May, I did not get a chance to register into ECON 111.
This course is the only one I am planning to take during the May - July Summer term; I will have more than enough time to catch up and excel in the course. I finished first year with a 4.12 GPA, and completed ECON 112, Introductory Macroeconomics, with a final grade of an A+. I also did very well in my high school economics course. I have already contacted the instructor of ECON 111, Andrea Craig, and received her support for this appeal. She informed me of two upcoming assignments, which I am already studying for and feel confident that I will do well in, as long as I am let into the course before their due dates (the first is on May 23rd). Even if this appeal takes longer four days, the course is structured such that only the best 3 of 4 online assignments are taken into account.
Overall, taking ECON 111 is incredibly important since my plan for the fall and winter terms is based on it, and I am highly confident that I will catch up with ease and further excel in it.
