Academic Plan
My academic plan moving forward is to go into second year undeclared. I want to declare as a math major in third year. In second year I want to retake linear algebra ( a course I failed this year) along side all of the courses a regular math major normally would. I have been in contact with professors as well as the Chair of Undergraduate Studies in order to bring this plan to light.
In terms of my surgery there is not much of a plan to be made there. Although now I know moving forward to reach out and let people know what I am going through. It was not fair to myself or my instructors to keep them in the dark. In terms of my friend passing and mental illness there is not much to be said or done there either. What happened happened and I am who I am. But I need to be prepared to deal with things more effectively. I have created a proper support system to reach out to in case things happen again. I also made a plan with my doctors to work on mental health. It involves a more structured life, exercise, diet changes, and some drugs. But that tailored with my more structured life means I can keep my mental health a priority without losing sight on academics. I also plan on using office hours more efficiently, surrounding myself around a more proactive peer group, and getting a tutor as soon as I get back to school. What I take from everything is that although I cant control everything that happens to me, it is vital that I control how I deal with it. I cannot let what happened this year happen again. Facing my challenges head on is an absolute must in order to succeed and given the chance I plan to. Going forward if this appeal is approved my goal is not to get a 1.6 GPA it is to exceed 3.0. I know what I can do and I am hoping I am given the chance to prove it. Thank you very much for your time.
