Petition Letter
I am writing an appeal to seek permission to take 21 credits during the winter term, instead of the usually allowed 18 credits. The reason I am requesting permission to do this is that I am hoping to apply to the Queen¿¿s University Bachelor of Education program this fall, which if I am admitted, would allow me to start my studies at the university May 2018.
Over the fall and winter terms there are a limited number of psychology courses available for me to take. With the limited number of psychology courses available I will not be able to complete my courses in time to start the B.Ed program in May. If I am given permission to take 21 credits during the fall or winter term this will help me to be able to achieve this goal.
Currently, I teach kindergarten full time as an Early Childhood Educator. I have been able to work through my studies while working full time. However, when I do take 21 credits in the fall term, I do plan on going down to a 50 position at work in order to allow me to have more time to dedicate to my studies. Luckily, I also have a very supportive and understanding family who have been able to take on the stress of housework at home so that I have as much time as possible to commit to my studies.
My husband is currently assessing a job opportunity in another province and if I am able to begin the Bachelor of Education program in May of 2018, this will allow me to finish the 4 term program before my husband needs to go away for work, allowing me to have more time for our son.
I have my credits planned out for the fall and winter terms, and will list them below, in the Academic Plan section. As you can see, I need 6 more credits in Psychology in order to complete my 30 credit requirement for the Distance Degree in Psychology program.
I hope that the information I have provided is sufficient for considering allowing me the opportunity to take 21 credits during the winter 2018 term. If any more information is needed, please feel free to either email me or call me at 613 661 4015.
