I am appealing to drop PSYC 100A/100B after the deadline. I was enrolled in this course from the Fall of 2016 ¿¿ Spring 2017.
During this period of time I had significant family issues arise due to the recent passing of my father and the breakdown of my family. These issues caused me a great deal of emotional trauma which brought on panic attacks, major anxiety and depression. When I enrolled in the Psychology course I felt that the focus of school would help me to get back on track with my academic goals, however during the first half of the course I began to lack the focus and concentration that was required, due to the circumstances and on-going family issues. I was able to complete the course but received an F. Throughout my whole academic career I have never received a Fail and I attribute this to the large amount of stress I was under during this period of time. Through my work I was able to access the Employee Assistance Program to seek individual counselling, in order to work on my anxiety issues. I met with my family doctor recently who was able to re-asses my condition and agrees that I am in a better emotional space at this time.
I have always prided myself on being a focused and astute learner. I have been taking courses for the most part of my life and enjoy the challenge of learning. At this point I am looking to enroll into the B.A. program for Psychology and use transfer credits. The issues that I was dealing with last year and the first part of this have improved significantly and I have been able to make some personal changes that will assist me in moving forward with my goal of achieving an undergraduate degree in Psychology. If given the opportunity to move forward with my academic goals I can assure you that I will out forth my best efforts and if I feel like I am struggling I will ensure that I am pro-active and seek assistance before It¿¿s too late.
I hope you will consider my appeal and if there is any further information that will help in this matter please feel free to contact me at 289-385-3569
