Petition Letter
Hello,
I am appealing to extend my incomplete grade because of some extenuating circumstances I have had over the summer this year. I have very hard time mentally because of several events that have occurred. First of all my father got fired unfairly last year as he had an argument with his boss. He was denied his pension and other benefits and had to find a lawyer to fight this unfair treatment. Our family had no money to hire a lawyer so we had to find a lawyer that would agree to take the case with no money upfront and agree to receive a share of the winnings we would get from this case. My family was in no position to support me and I had to do whatever I could to support myself while also focusing on my academics. My family also received news of my grandfather's illness in Korea. Although they wouldn't tell me exactly what was wrong, I suspected that he did not have very live to long as my dad constantly seemed depressed and in a gloomy mood. As the only one out of our relatives to live away from Korea, my dad felt a need to meet his father before he passed away in Korea. My parents were preoccupied with both the sickness of my grandfather and also struggling financially to get by, I felt like I could not ever ask for help or bring upon more worries by explaining my problems. I have been working hard to make ends meet, and keep myself from being hungry but it is very hard to focus on academics when you have to worry about having a place to sleep or having a meal to eat. I missed my makeup exam on Tuesday because I was working full time everyday to pay for the first and last month of rent of a place I found in Kingston. I had to save up money to come to Kingston and be able to survive for a couple weeks until I found a job here. It has been really hectic and I just arrived in Kingston yesterday to move everything by myself during the whole day and I am finally settled in. Thank you for your time.
