Petition Letter
Dear Associate Dean,
Please accept this as an appeal of a credit standing for the following course Math 126 due to the extenuating circumstance of an undiagnosed learning disability. I am appealing the Math 126 grade because it was a full year course and I was diagnosed and given accommodation for my disability midway through the winter semester, three quarters of the way through the course. One of my major challenges of my learning disability was the hinderance of my performance during exams and tests as well as developing new learning strategies that enhance my learning through my disability. The accommodations I received assisted me in my performance on my tests and exams at the end of the term. The majority of this course was a struggle for me because it was very heavily weighted on tests and exams in which I did poorly on until I was provided with accommodation. Having this mark changed to a credit standing will help me greatly in achieving my goal of becoming a full time student. I have been putting time into improving my habits as a student by visiting the SASS. They've helped me become more efficient in my study habits as well as being more organized and economical with my daily planning. Second year for me was a struggle both physically and mentally, I am looking forward to this next year to be a successful and positive one for myself. I hope you consider my request for a credit standing
Thank you,
Jason Cooper
