Petition Letter
To The Associate Dean (studies),
Since course selection I have been on the wait list for History 295, however because of a glitch in Solus I was enrolled in two courses in the same time slot, (Hist 295 and Socy 344). I have been attending History 295 for the first 3 weeks of classes and was planning on dropping Socy 344 as soon as a spot became available in 295. I was unaware that 344 was actually preventing me being enrolled in 295 as it has been brought to my attention that spots have become available in the course, yet, I have remained number 1 on the waiting list.
I went to the faculty of Arts and Science office to discuss this conflict and see what I could do. They made me aware that there are currently two available seats in the course and I was advised to reach out to both the Department of History and the Faculty of Arts and Science, in order to gain permission to be enrolled past the academic enrolment deadline.
I have since been in contact with Dr. Barrington Walker, and I have been granted permission by him to join the course , (as can be seen in the attached document/email screenshot) as i was advised to attain by the Faculty of Arts and Science.
I have since dropped Socy 344, because of my lack of participation in the course, and full participation, to the best of my abilities, in HIST 295. I have really enjoyed History 295 thus far, and hope to continue in it for the remainder of the semester.
