Petition Letter
Hello,
I am writing this letter because I am appealing to request to waive the 21-day/one term deadline in order to drop GPHY 368.
I was unable to drop one of my courses (GPHY 368) because on October 30th, I received news about my friend, Leah Battista, who was in the hospital. After hearing this news, I was overcome with many emotions which distracted me from my studies, work, and much more. As days progressed, Leah's conditioned worsened. She passed away on November 4th. Leah was one of my good friends from first year (at the Bader International Study Centre) and she was in the Global Development Studies program with me.
This news about my good friend prevented me from meeting the date to drop classes without academic penalty.
After meeting with a residence outreach counsellor (Freeman Woolnough) and an academic advisor (Heather Carter), I am requesting to waive the 21-day/one term deadline in order to drop GPHY 368 without academic penalty.
