Petition Letter
I was struggling with psychological and mental issues during my fourth year of study. I kept seeing a psychologist for help, and talked to my parents about my mental issues. I didn't get enough help from the family side though. I initiated to my parents that I should take a gap year and go home for more professional treatment, but they don't believe me and think I can still consist in my education. We were having a lot of arguments over the phone during that year. It was a hard year for my family, also for me because I was pressured to find a job after graduation to stay in Canada while trying to graduate on time. In my fourth year I was working in residence, while trying to graduate on time with a 6-course workload in the fall semester, it worked okay at the beginning but I still ended failing 2 course. The second semester I gave up on trying to graduate in four years because my mental issues became worse and only took four course that year, but it still didn't go well. I took two courses that summer, hoping it could recover some of my GPA, but still failed one course. This year I switched my plan to a General degree and managed to graduate, but I don't want to have those failed courses on my transcript forever and knowing I couldn't change it in the future. I am starting my first job in Vancouver this December, so I have to graduate this fall. However, I might decide to go back and finish my honors degree in the future and I really need to drop those courses to rise my GPA in order to go back to my education one day.
