Petition Letter
To Whom It May Concern,
I am appealing to requesting to waive the 21-day/one term deadline in order to drop HIST 240 and change the F to Dropped.
This is because I was unable to complete my short essay and final essay due to a surgery I had on February 7th.
This surgery impacted my whole course load for the semester, and whilst I had accommodations, I was expected to complete these assignments at home. However, by not being able to attend lectures or office hours, taking pain killers, and being extremely tired, I was unable to complete the assignments, resulting in failing the course. When I missed nearly all my classes in February, I found it extremely difficult to catch up with all my classes, and the HIST 240 final project was difficult as it was an ongoing group assignment; I did not know my group members, was unable to contact them, and missed lectures that tackled topics I wanted to write about in my short essay.
While I found the topic extremely interesting (which is why I took it as an elective), I unfortunately could not pass this course due to circumstances which were out of my control. I would really appreciate being able to drop this course.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Pravieena Gnanakumar
