Dear Associate Dean (Studies),
My request
I am writing to request Aegrotat standing in ECON 112. I understand from Dr. Ian Keay that this is the appropriate place to send this request.
Extenuating Circumstances
I was diagnosed with non-hodgkin¿¿s lymphoma on November 28, 2017. This was a lifechanging event that forced me to stop working, and to stop studying for my ECON 112 exam. I have been placed on an extremely intensive chemotherapy protocol (McGrath protocol) which requires inpatient time at the hospital very frequently.
Between November 28 and December 13 (the date of my exam) I underwent numerous hospital procedures and fertility treatments in preparation for commencing chemotherapy on December 15. As a result, I was not able to study for my exam and was not in a position, physically or emotionally, to write the exam on the 13th.
I attach a letter from Dr. Dory Abosh at St. Michael¿¿s Hospital confirming my diagnosis.
Future Plan
I was enjoying, and doing well in the course. My instructor (Xiaoran (Sheldon) Guo) mentioned he would support the decision to grant me Aegrotat standing based on my work thus far in the course.
Thank you for your consideration of this request. If you need any further information from me, please let me know.
Yours truly,
Joanne E. Archibald
