Petition Letter
Hello,
I am a 2nd year BScH student and took Dr.Nelson's Introduction to Statistics course the past fall of 2017. I received my final grade in the new year and immediately recognized that there was a miscalculation, likely in relation to my Term Test 1 mark. I play for the Queen's Women's Rugby team and was exempted from the first term test since I was out of town for a game. I was told that the weight of the test would be redistributed between Term Test 2 and the final exam. My grade is currently listed as a C+ on SOLUS, though it should be a B+ based on my grades listed on OnQ. I believe that my final grade was miscalculated by including a mark of 0 for the first term test. Another Queen's athlete on the Women's Volleyball team recently completed her academic appeal, falling victim to a similar miscalculation. I attempted to request an informal review of my grade with Dr.Nelson, but he failed to answer my e-mail and was not in his office on the multiple occasions that I went to discuss with him in person. I managed to get in contact with the administrative winter term TA, Dylan O'Sullivan, on January 7th. Dylan explained that there was an issue with some of the grade calculations and the proper grades should be updated in January. Dylan also confirmed that based on my grades throughout the term, I should have finished with a B+. My grade is currently still sitting at a C+ on SOLUS.
Thank you for your consideration,
Emma Crivello
