Petition Letter
My name is Nicole Espinosa and I am appealing to add MUSC 289 (winter 2018) to my winter semester. I wish to switch one of my compulsory life science courses with MUSC 289 because I have been experiencing a lot of mental health issues with my science-heavy course load this semester. Currently, I am taking 4 compulsory life science courses and one health elective. I have noticed that it has significantly impacted my mental health, and I would really appreciate the opportunity to try and lighten my course load with an enjoyable music course so I can comfortably focus on my academic career.
If I am enrolled in in MUSC 289, I have no doubt that I would be able to catch up in the course. Originally, I have been interested in this course at the beginning of the semester and therefore, have attendant all the classes, which take place Thursday evening at Ellis Hall. Therefore, I would not need to catch up on any course material, since I have all the lecture notes already. And since there have been no assignments due yet, if I am able to enrol soon I would not have to submit any late assignments to the professor, they would be completed on time. Also, since I have taken two previous music courses last semester, I am very comfortable and familiar with the course type. I am very passionate about music, and I am very interested in completing a music minor as well.
