Petition Letter
Associate Dean,
I am appealing to add HLTH 101 (winter 2018). I was planning on applying to the Life Sciences plan this May however I came to realize that I needed 27 units to be considered, while I will only have 24 by the end of the semester. I did not become aware of this fact until after the add date for classes had passed and so couldn¿¿t add any classes to be able to obtain the last three units that I need. Without these units I will not be considered for Life Sciences and will not be able to follow through with my goals for my time at Queens. I have already looked at some of the course work for HLTH 101 and am aware of the work that I have missed so far. I also have friends who are taking this course and are willing help me catch up on the information that I have missed. As this is an online class my joining late will not disrupt other student¿¿s learning and will not take up class space, nor will I have missed any in-lecture information. I recognize that this is due to poor planning on my part however I would hate for my goals at Queens to be disrupted because of this error. In the future I will be sure to make certain that I am taking all the classes and getting all the units I need in order to successfully achieve my academic plans and goals at Queens.
Thank you,
Madeleine Powell
