Petition Letter
To Whom It May Concern:
I am writing to you today to request an extension of my Incomplete in PSYC 202, until the end of the summer term. Originally, I was given an incomplete in the course because of my chronic Lyme disease, as well as the recommendation from my professor to defer it as my final exam was re-weighed to count as 50.
I was planning on preparing for the exam throughout the semester, and taking the test as soon as possible. Unfortunately, my chronic condition, episodic in nature, worsened over the course of the semester. I was forced to miss a lot of class time as I was in and out of doctor¿¿s appointments, as well as many times where I was just unable to get out of bed because of my symptoms. My condition progressed to the point where I was struggling in my other courses as well, and had to drop BIOL 102.
I am still struggling in my current courses, as many of my midterms had to be re-weighed so that my finals count for more than half of my grade. I am doing my best to prepare for the exams of my current courses; I am struggling to complete the bare minimum of three, and worry that having to prepare for an extra exam will put me over the edge.
As PSYC 202 is a required course for my program, and an integral course for my career, I want to not only succeed in the class, but also gain a comprehensive understanding of the material. I feel that taking some time over the summer, when I can give the course my full attention, is necessary for me to perform proficiently.
Sincerely,
Ruta (Rue) Odulak
