Petition Letter
I am appealing to drop Econ244 and Econ243 (Winter, 2017).
I am in the extremely anxious and depressed mood during the whole winter term. I have been told that I might be withdrawn for one year and after few weeks of this information, I almost lost all the valued stuff I have. These two things just thoroughly break me down, It is really stressful and hopeless.
In January, my house was been stolen, three-bedroom house, only my room was been steal. My clothes, beatspill speaker, credit card, and most importantly, my passport, were all lost. As an International student here, that is my only ID. I have no idea what I can do without my passport. The week after, I lost my phone and my debit card in campus.
The process of finding all these lost stuff take a lot of time and money, complex procedures and inquires. It upset me the whole time from January to now. And even now, none of them are back. I went to the police station to report the theft and also went to the embassy in two different cities four times for applying for a new passport. It is still been processed now. I do not even know when I can book the flight ticket home while almost all my friends were booking cheap tickets home two months in advance. Plus, my teeth also join this tragedy. They hurt me so much this semester, I have been found four decays and two teeth have to do a surgery. The insurance can not cover all these cost when it is around 2000 dollars. My budget left nothing. The whole treatment was long, from March to now.
I do not have the courage to tell my parents about all my missing stuff and awful situations cause I do not want them worried and be more upset. It is really hopeless.
I think I am an optimistic person. But this series of psychological challenges just thoroughly broke me down. It is really hard for me to focus on my courses and assignments.
I can provide: the case number I got from police office: 18-6556, the photo of email from police officer, the photo of email I sent to the campus security lost and found, the photo of tickets and hotel I booked for the four specific trips to Ottawa and Toronto for the embassy thing.
Future plan: if I could drop these two courses, at least I have the possibility to not be withdrawn next year. While I'm on the edge of being withdrawn, I have earned one thing: you need to fight when life is hard. I will take 4 courses next year and will only focus on my 4 courses. I might also take our Queens online courses on summer next year for narrowing the gap.
Thanks for reading.
I appreciate it.
