Academic Plan
1) Course of Study: in the 2018/2019 academic year my course of study would be towards environmental studies as I have found this is my main interest. I have already taken many courses involved in the degree. But doing this would require me to retake GEOL 104 and MATH 121, and take prerequisite courses such as GPHY 102, ENSC 103, GEOL 106, and 107. I already have taken a few ENSC courses, but I would of course expand on those as well.
2) Full Time versus Part time status: I do believe with the proper strategies I would be able to maintain fulltime status as a student but being realistic I think no more than four courses each semester is what I should uphold. I believe that as long as I schedule myself correctly, get the needed assistance, and maintain one or two shifts a week only at my part-time job, four courses is a completely reasonable course load for me.
3) Strategies for Success: Going forward it is going to be extremely important to seek help as soon as I need it and I am aware of that. After speaking with an academic advisor, I understand that that is a viable option, this along with going into office hours with professors regularly, seeking help through peers, and taking advantage of opportunities found through learning commons. Along with this I will also be seeking professional counselling to make sure my mental health is in a good place for the school year and in the event that another relapse was to occur with my brother I would have someone to talk to regardless of the circumstance.
