Academic Plan
My preference is to take my outstanding courses at York University, but should the strike continue into the Fall term, my plan is to take the courses instead at the University of Toronto. I have only 3.0 units left to take for my LING major, so I plan to take a linguistics course, Phonology 2: Theory (also known as Phonological Theory at University of Toronto), and then 9.0 units of electives at the host university. Achieving this, I will have finished my degree. My department has confirmed that Phonology 2: Theory will transfer as an unspecified LING course, most likely at the 300 level, and can be used to complete my major.
My underlying mental health issue remains, but I will take the following steps to ensure that I deliver the same quality of work that I have thus far:
1) Register with the host university's Accessibility Services to arrange necessary accommodations
2) Continue to take a reduced course load
3) Work with my psychiatrist to adjust medications as needed
4) Utilize a counselor at the host university
I thank you for your time and consideration, and hope most earnestly that you will grant me this appeal.
Sincerely,
Angela Chung
