Petition Letter
Dear whomever this may concern,
I am currently enrolled in a course (CLST 205) and unfortunately my mental health mixed with the poor health of a close relative is really affecting performance. I have reached out to my professor who has told me to contact accessibility services to take the course off of my record so I can retake it in the fall term so that I can get my affairs in order in the meantime. After contacting accessibility services they directed me to this site to file an appeal. My mental health has been monitored by my family doctor and various medical professionals for the past 5-6 years. Unfortunately this summer my grandfather has fallen extremely ill (2 strokes and an aneurysm leaving him in two comas and later being moved to a home with 24hr medical surveillance after spending extensive time in the hospital) and it has taken a huge toll on my mental health- thus affecting my academic performance. Emotionally, I have been so consumed with the stress from my family, alongside my own anxiety and depression that my ability to focus, study, and perform academically has been affected negatively. Time-wise I have been spending the majority of my time with my grandfather and otherwise supporting my family through this tough time leaving limited time to work on the required assignments for the course and to study- also hindering my ability to succeed in the course. I really want to do well academically and also take this class in the future so I would really appreciated if my appeal was granted to take this course off of my transcript.
Thank you for your consideration,
