Petition Letter
Dear Associate Dean,
I am appealing to drop Math 385 (Winter, 2018), Math 210 (Winter, 2018), Math 281 (Winter, 2018), and Econ 255 (Winter, 2018) from my transcript completely as well as appealing to waive the 21-day or one term deadline to drop Math 280 (Fall, 2017) and Math 474 (Fall, 2017).
I started off this year strong but I soon made a 180 degrees turn. I started the year off eager to learn, motivated to attend all my classes and learn the material. However, a handful of untimely events impacted my education greatly. Firstly, I began to fall ill often. My physical health went on a roller coaster and I experienced everything from colds to stomach flus to viruses. Unfortunately, most of this occurred during examinations so I was unable to participate in many of my assessments. This also prevented me from attending my classes and tutor sessions regularly so I quickly fell behind on my course work as well. Fortunately, most of my professors were accommodating and shifted most of the weight of my grades onto my final exams. However, to make things far worse, I was involved in a terrible car accident before my final exams. Unfortunately, the pain from the accident would sometimes keep me up at night or disrupt my sleep. This would further impact my education because it would interfere with my focus and ability to study since I would be tired from the lack of sleep. In turn, I would be too distracted by the pain (as a result of the accident) and tiredness to focus on studying and successfully absorb the course material. Furthermore, I also got a stomach virus during the final exams. This caused me to be on bed rest and therefore was unable to even attend my final exams. I did go see a doctor and obtained a doctor's note as proof of this. All of these occurrences also shifted my focus from my responsibilities and as a result I did not appeal to drop math 280 and math 474 by the deadline.
