Petition Letter
Dear Madam/Sir,
I was fortunate to have completed my first and second year of comp sci in the software design option at Queens. I have completed 54 credits of the program.
Unfortunately, due to reoccurring problems regarding my mental health that worsened as time went on I was unable to handle a full course load towards the end. I'm currently taking a gap semester while living at home and receiving psychotherapy sessions and taking medication.
I would like to start studying again in the winter semester, however both my counselor and I are convinced that it would be best if I studied from home - see attached letter.
I would love to graduate with a Queen's computing degree. It is for this reason that I would like to take courses at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) since it is 15 minutes from my house.
There is a lot of similarity in the upper years between UOIT's Computer Science program and Queen's Software Design program. I've had initial discussions with numerous people at UOIT regarding the possibility to complete up to 54 credits at UOIT to finish my Queen's Degree - I've spoken to people both within the computer science department and admissions. UOIT is willing to allow this if Queen's approves. I've already started the registration process at UOIT.
I am hereby requesting permission to take up to 54 units outside of Queens University.
