Petition Letter
Dear Reviewer,
I would like to have the course dropped because of my personal health issues that caused poor final exam results that resulted in a failure of the course. I have reviewed the final exam with the professor and based on our discussion and his advice I believe it was a justifiable assessment of my actual exam performance. I obtained a passing mark in all other course work. I passed all my other graded courses in the semester. This was my final exam of three during the fall semester and was a few days later than my other exams. I believe I was not in the best mindset and physical condition to write a programming exam which caused my unusually poor effort. I wish for the effort I placed during the course to not negatively impact my GPA and academic record. Therefore I believe that I have a justifiable reason for a late drop of this course.
Health Reason Explanation:
I have been diagnosed with a severe dust mite allergy, and moderate feather allergy, and started a treatment program of allergy shots at Student Wellness Services in December to treat this allergy. Physical effects include sinusitis and tinnitus, ringing of the ears caused by a blocked tube to the ear due to the sinusitis. I did not experience any new physically noticeable effects after dosing began but I believe that the first few doses might have had a mental impact on my study habits and exam performance. It might have also had caused some physical effects which I would not have evidence for. With this course having the latest scheduled exam out of all of my courses, I believe the effects caused a noticeable impact. I began the dosage based on advice after consultation with a doctor at SWS and am scheduled to meet with her again in the following week. Evidence for my allergy condition and dosage schedule is available.
Thank you for your consideration,
Michael
