Petition Letter
I was taking math 121 in the summer of 2018. In August of 2018 I was diagnosed with mononucleosis. I was having many symptoms earlier, but I did not get see a doctor and get diagnosed until August. This virus directly impacted my learning as I was constantly tired with a brutal headache and I could barely get out of bed, let alone focus on my academic studies. I could not keep up with the work assigned each week and I could not make it to my math 121 exam in September as my mono lasted until mid-October, which lead to me failing the course. My mono did go into the 2018 fall semester, however I could manage these studies as I was on the route to recovery and the semester had just started. Having mono in the second half of the math 121 course was very difficult and I could not pull through the course with a passing grade.
I understand I am applying to drop this course way after the deadline, which I do apologize for. I did not understand how much the failing of this one course would impact my GPA and I truly did not want to appeal to drop it as I thought I could manage with one failed course. I do value my studies here at Queen's University and I am trying my best to keep the highest GPA I possibly can.
I appreciate you evaluating my appeal and if needed I can get in contact with my doctor back home to get the proper documentation of my diagnosis of mononucleosis.
