Petition Letter
Dear Associate Dean (Studies),
I am appealing to drop GPHY 247 (Winter, 2019). I was diagnosed with mononucleosis (mono) on February 26th, 2019. The doctor recommended that I take two weeks off from school to get the rest I needed. I have been struggling to catch up with all the work I missed during this time. I am still feeling fatigued, a symptom of mono which persists for months. I have been finding it challenging to keep up with my course load and I do not want my school work to be sacrificed due to my illness. I do not have enough energy for all of my courses. GPHY 247 is already a difficult course for me and since I have been ill I have not had the energy it requires to do well in the course. I believe I would be able to better succeed in this course when I am fully recovered. Further, a lighter course load would allow me to focus more of my energy on my other courses. It is for that reason that I am appealing to drop GPHY 247 (Winter, 2019). Should this appeal be granted, I plan to take GPHY 247 next academic year.
