Petition Letter
Dear Associate Dean,
I am appealing the Faculty¿¿s decision to drop FREN 118 (Winter, 2019). I am sorry to bother you with this issue but I had circumstances beyond my control that have prohibited me from performing as I would have normally in this course. This was due to domestic issues that have directly influenced my ability to perform well in two major assignments in this course. During the week that both assignments were due (April 5), I had been visiting my family for a family emergency and as classes were over. In this time, I had major family issues that took away time, emotional stability, but most importantly was detrimental my mental health and caused personal issues. Although I do have other courses, FREN 118 was the only course with major assignments due during that time as other coursework was done in preparations before exams. As a result of this situation, I found myself in an unhealthy state incapable to focus and perform in these assignments. Unfortunately these two assignments have a major impact on my final grade and thus have made it difficult for me to make up for with other assignments. I understand that it is not ideal to submit this appeal after the final exam but it was at this time that I was in the right mind and mental state to realize the situation I was in and impact it has on my performance in this course. I am not doing this as I don't believe I did well on the exam but I am actually in recovery from this situation. Please consider my appeal as it is very out of character for me and would be extremely thankful. I am currently working towards combatting family issues to ensure it does not have an impact on my education and am looking to get medical advice and support in my recovery of this situation.
Thank you,
Naheed Nero
