Petition Letter
To whom it may concern,
I am writing to appeal an assignment in the grading scheme of ECON452. Our professor asked us to write a course evaluation, stating our likes and dislikes of the course. This assignment was NOT anonymous and was worth 5 of our grade. No objective criteria for the grading of this assignment was provided. This assessment did not pertain to course content. The grade seemed to be entirely at the discretion of the professor. This assignment violates student confidentiality and university policy. I also think it's unethical to grade students according to their evaluation of the course. I strongly urge the department to further inquire into this issue, as the professor and the departmental secretary were unresponsive to my concerns. I think the best option for the professor at this point in the semester is to either disregard the assignment from our final grade, or give students full marks for participation.
