Petition Letter
Dear Colleague,
I appeal to drop the course PHYS 321 in winter 2019. I was ill starting on the half of semester and had to be hospitalized to take treatment. It is a not chronic disease but very urgent, considering the risk probably occurred, I had to back to my home country to take further treatment. I have provided more details in my personal health clarification.
This circumstance was badly influence my academic performance, especially for the course PHYS 321. I was very weak during my hospitalization, it is very hard for me to follow the course as usual. I discussed with my instructor Prof. Scott wether I could continue my study after I feel better. He suggested the best choice for me is to ask for an academic appeal to drop this course. The problem is I missed too much contact between instructor and peers, and it is very hard to study this course individually without discussion in a group. And another concern is PHYS 321 is a very important foundation for PHYS 414 General Relativity. He thought it will be better for me to follow this course in class to have a strong support for further study,
I am still under the treatment now but my attending doctor thinks everything should be fine before the beginning of the fall term. I think I should take the suggestion and would like to continue on this course next year. I am very appreciated if you can give a chance to me to study on that further.
Sincerely,
Xiangyi Chen
