Petition Letter
Dear Associate Dean,
I am writing to inform you that I due to extenuating circumstances, I have had to drop out of my course. I do understand that I have pass the deadline for dropping out and to appeal it, however I am asking if this can be reviewed. I work in a non profit organization where I mainly work with individual struggling with substance use, domestic violence and mental health. Since last November, I have been dealing with a couple of participants with high needs. Both participants have attempted suicide and following this I have been doing multiple visit during and after my work time to the hospital and to their respective homes. I have fallen behind with school work and study time before Christmas but was unable to take a moment to drop out or appeal due to feeling really overwhelmed with these work situations. The moment I would get home, I would immediately go to sleep due to feeling exhausted. I have been dealing with compassionate fatigue for the last few months and I am slowly regaining my strength.
At this time, I need to focus on my current work and my own mental health so I can eventually go back to taking courses with your University.
I do hope that my case can be reviewed and that I can avoid the penalty that would occur to my GPA and financially.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Sincerely,
Mélissa Perron
