Petition Letter
Hello,
My name is Hisham Yusuf, I am a student at Queens University currently working towards my bachelor of arts honours degree. During the 2018-2019 school year, I suffered from a medical ailment that unfortunately limited my capability towards my academics. It has been a problem that has been recurring since I was a child. Due to an injured urethra, my urine contains blood and is painful while urinating. This pain has prevented me from adequately fulfilling some of my academic obligations including a winter 2018-2019 final exam that has been deferred until further notice.I have received multiple surgeries for this issue and will require another as the problem still persists. Given that I am currently out of the country, it will likely happen when I¿¿m back in Canada in early September, after my next medical appointment. In light of this, I feel it is best for my academics if I attend the University of British Columbia (UBC) for my upcoming school year as it would mean being close to my family who can assist me for my impending surgery. This will ensure a speedier recovery and thus, I can go back to school faster than I would if I were at Queens, where I will have to go through the process alone. I am writing to have the letter of permission clause for upper year students appealed due to my unique situation. The clause states that a total of 6 units can be taken in another university per semester. I am hoping that I am given permission to take 15 units per semester at UBC as to not slow down my academic journey. Attached below are my medical notes received from Kingston. I hope you will consider my situation and assist me so I do not hinder my academic progress.
Kind regards,
Hisham Yusuf
