Petition Letter
1.The Requests
I am appealing 3 courses during the summer term of 2019 and fall term of 2019. I was unable to complete these courses for reasons outlined in section 2 of this appeal letter. The specific requests are as follows:
1. To request an aegrotat standing in ENIN 340 (Summer 2019) AG
2. To drop ENIN 120 (Summer 2019) DR
3. To request an aegrotat standing in POLS 384 (Fall 2019) AG
2. Explanation of Extenuating Circumstances
In June 2019, I experienced an exacerbation of ongoing conditions that prevented me from completing the 3 courses outlined above. I was expected to receive treatment and rehabilitation for these extenuating issues starting in July 2019 until the start of the fall term in September 2019. My plan was to continue treatment and management services into the 2019/2020 school year to treat and better manage my conditions so that I can complete courses to the best of my academic abilities, without any hindrances. However, due to reasons outside of my control, I was unable to receive the appropriate treatment and rehabilitation support that I needed to assist me with my ongoing conditions. I was unfortunately only able to commence the proper treatment that I needed in late October/beginning of November 2019.
3. Future Plan
In the following paragraph, I plan to outline my rationale for the requests as outlined in section 1 of this appeal letter. As well, an overview of my academic plan following this appeal process is provided.
In requesting to drop ENIN 120, I plan to retake ENIN 120 (if offered) or equivalent in either the winter or summer term of 2020. For both ENIN 340 and POLS 384, as I have already completed at least sixty percent of the course work and met the learning outcomes for the courses, I am requesting to receive an aegrotat standing in both courses (ENIN 240 & POLS 384). Additionally, I plan on continuing any treatment necessary in hopes to succeed and manage the difficulties of my conditions.
