Petition Letter
To whom it may concern,
I am appealing to drop CISC124(fall,2019) and Math231(fall,2019).
At the beginning of the term, everything went well. However, at 27rd November 2019, my mother told me she was planning to get divorce with my father, she called me every night about her situations, and my father never answered my phone call at that time, I totally don't know what happened about my family. Since then, I could slept well, I normally sleep 7-8 hours, but during that time, I could only sleep about 3 hours. I became anxious, depressed, and drink alcohol a lot. Nothing can makes me happy and nothing can gets me up, it makes me impossible to focus on my academic work.
I had 4 courses in fall term 2019 (Math280, Math231, Cisc204, Cisc124), Cisc204 did not have final exam, which did not get much impact on this course. The exam date for the rest of three courses were: math280(16th, Dec), math231(17th, Dec), cisc124(18th, Dec) For Math 280, It was my second time to take this course, and I failed last time. I don't want to spend 3 years on a course, so I had to give a try, during the exam, it's really hard for me to focus on the questions, even the questions I know how to do it. after I finished the exam, I felt a sense of despair, and on the following day, I stayed at home for a whole day, trying to escape from the reality. on 18th Dec, I realized it is not right, I might get serious mental illness on that. I should seek for help, then I book an appointment with a counsellor at Queen's university. Math 231 and cisc124 are two challenging courses, I had to spend a lot of time to review the courses. But I did not have the ability to do it under that circumstances. So, on my supporting document, math231 is not included, the counselor said the system won't allow her to add math 231, may be it because, the exam period is already over on 19Dec.
During Christmas. I went back to Vancouver to see my mother and then fly back to china to see my father, I understand what is going on between them, even though I still quit hard for me to accept, but, I respect their decision. For the future plan, I reduce my main course load and add few online courses that I am interest to balance. and I am planning to take Cisc124 on summer for catch up. And I will stay contact with my counselor just in case.
