Petition Letter
To Whom It May Concern,
This is a letter outlining my desire to appeal the add class deadline to enroll in ENGL 421. This is the only class I need to graduate at the end of this semester. I missed the deadline because of a combination of not realizing I needed the class and thinking I had until today, Friday January 24, to add classes. I acknowledge that these are my mistakes; however I am willing to do whatever it takes to rectify them. I had hoped to meet with an academic adviser and make sure I was on track to graduate when I arrived at the beginning of the semester. Unfortunately I was distracted due to a dispute with the upstairs neighbour at my new apartment. He is mentally unwell and constantly bangs on his floor and yells at people who are not there at all hours of the day and night. As you can imagine this was extremely distracting. While I have been able to keep up with my school work, obvious this fell through the cracks.
I have the time and will to catch up on work I've missed and to be a productive member of the classroom. After a rough period last year due to a familial tragedy, I have come back this semester with my full attention on my studies hoping to finish my undergraduate journey with my academically strongest semester yet and so far I have been successful. I have been able to not only stay on top of readings but stay ahead, have not missed a class, and received an A on my first assignment. I am committed to my academic success. If allowed to take this course I will be dedicated to my success there as well, and be able to graduate in May as the strongest student I have ever been. Having to come back another semester to take only one course would be extremely unfortunate. If there is anything you can do to help me it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope to hear from you soon.
