STRATEGIES FOR SUCCESS
As stated in my letter above, a huge factor that hindered my success in my courses in the past was my mental health. I have been attending ongoing talk therapy, in addition to having regular meetings with my psychiatrist (every 3 months) to discuss how my medication is working for me and any other issues I may be having. This has provided a great support system and has given me new tools for success with completing this degree.
I have also utilized online resources provided by my current employer, and online resources suggested by the Queens University Arts & Science webpage (courses mentioned above), which solidified learning tools and strategies for success that I can implement into my studies.
I have previously taken ENGL 100, and while I didn¿¿t struggle with the course content, I struggled with my motivation. Given that I am familiar with the course content and the layout of the course now, I feel that retaking this course will give me the greatest chance at success, while improving my overall GPA.
I believe given my interest in mental health, phycology and overall health; this degree plan is the correct plan to complete. I also am only short 12.0 credits in order to complete the degree.
My motivation was my greatest enemy while studying previously, but I now feel that with my therapy, medication, courses for success/online resources, and my break from the degree program I am now more motivated than ever to finally complete this degree. I thought about it nearly every day of the 3 years required to withdraw, and completing this degree is something I want more than anything. I have the physical and mental health to succeed, in addition to the proper financial resources, and I am willing to work hard and focus to obtain success.
